Hey There Guys,
Just wanted to come by and share my interview I had with one of my favorite runners and #1 Run2improve supporter. Deuvall Dorsey aka "The 420Runner". I recently got the opportunity to talk to him 1 on 1 about his message to the people. He want to help "Marijuana" be destigmatize from being known as a drug, instead of being a helpful plant with many uses. It always nice hearing someones else view on this matter. I know Duevall will becoming the ambassador need to make the difference. So please join us and subscribe to my podcast show. Link: http://run2improve.buzzsprout.com/

My Training Routine:Ok lets talk about my training, So far Im not worries about the running portion, since Ive been also running extra distances to increase my miles to be ready for my 1st half marathon on 11/14/2016. I manages to get a nice 21 speed bike to practice my cycling since I will have to complete a total of 14 miles right after Im finish with my swimming. So far I have been cycling about 6 miles a day and I sill have about 25 days left to get my self stronger to be able to transition from swim to bike and then bike to run.. I have also been watching my food intake to make sure Im eating fresh and healthy. The only concern I have will be for the swimming portion since I still haven't been able to really practice. I know Im a quick learner. I have also been doing LEG exercise to make my legs stronger. UPDATE: ONLY 8 DAYS LEFT!ell it there only 8 days left, and since last time I wrote this blog. I have been putting in the work every morning. However last Monday 10/3/2016 , I also almost got hit by a vehicle which cause me to lose control and end up in a ditch which ended damaging my mountain bike, now I don't have a BIKE to complete with, but I will not lose hope that I will find a replacement.
I have also been having issue with the swimming portion, having problems finding pools where I can practice. but I still have 8 Days to train and learn enough to at least be able to go out there a set a new PR for myself. So which me luck and please come back to this blog so you can be updated with the results! I promise I will give it my All! Mr, Run2Improve! (Jose Santos) RACE REGISTRATION: https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=37216 Hello Hello and Welcome back, Thanks for taking the time to read a little of whats been going on with my training for this month race. Last month I was able to participate in the Nocturnal Sin 10K, all I can say it was a blast and I love every minute of it. I was also able to meet and become good friends with Stephanie and Ken, who are the owners of Beyond Limits Running. Meeting great people and making friends is what I love most about RUNNING, To me its a blessing because Im able to motivate others by just showing them what a little effort can do . This race will be different since I am currently battling an Injury and will be running with my 2nd youngest brother (Victor). During my regular workouts I managed to over do it when I was jumping rope and managed to hurt my left legs Achilles. Dealing with feet or legs injuries is no joke, specially if your in the process of training for your next race. So I decide to switch things up and I began to ride my bike ever where to let my left achilles heal, I also included swing to my daily routine. Here is a video of me at the pool doing my thing, Thanks to the swing pool I was able to get back to my training. This for me was a totally new experience and after learning all the benefits that you get, I was hooked and now its part of my regiment. At the start of this week I began to run once again, and it felt great to be back in action specially after not running for a whole week. I felt like a NEWBIE. =) However there was a draw back, I still felt a little pain on my foot when it hits the ground. So I decide to start wrapping my ankle to get a bit more support when I run. I'm glad I did. because of it I was able to continue my running routine. This past Thursday before my night run, I decide to do it with out any ankle tape. The pain is still there, which means its not fully healed. So this Saturday night I will be wrapping my ankle to get that support to be able to clear this next race. "NO PAIN, NO GAIN" I will also have the chance to finally run along with one of my brother, my goal is to run with all of them, total of 3. Here is a photo of us two at the last event. He has also been training but for a young fit young man like him it should be cake.
Race Registration Link: https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=37211 Hello and Welcome back guys! Hope your month of June was productive, I know mine was. As many of you know in June I participated in the 1st Las Vegas Officer Down 5K, which was a great event and they had a great turnout. I can't wait to see you guys in 2017! Thanks again TJ! Now for more current news, I hope everyone had a lovely 4th of July with your close friends and family as you celebrate your freedom. For the month of JULY, I was able to find a new sponsor for my next race, the company is called ( BEYOND LIMIT RUNNNG). BLR is owned and directed by Stephanie Kundin and Ken Rubeli . After reading their story I now consider them a power couple, who fought for everything they have, what an inspiration. Please take some time and read a bit amore about them, here is a direct link to their story. http://www.beyondlimitsrunning.com/about-us/our-story I decide that I would continue my journey with another 10K run. This run is going to be different since I will be running this course at night. The race is being held at the Heritage Park In Henderson, NV. Last time I was there was for the Kid Triple Dare Run. Here is a photo of the course and the park. I can't wait to go out there and give it my all. Im hoping to beat my PR time of 1: 45:16. I will be shooting for 1:34:00 I know I can do it. I just have to run my race and keep myself at a nice easy steady pace. Running in the heat is something else, so since last week Ive been on a water program to make sure Im drinking enough. What program? I just set my G-shock watch to ring every 20 minutes, so I know its time to drink water. Simple. I also can wait to add another medal to my collection. So far I have a total of 7 for this year and I hope to finish with 13 this year. These medal are tokens of each run I have completed and I hope to one day give them to my son or daughter so they know that nothing in life is impossible. All they need to do is try.
It's funny, since I began my journey I just cant get enough of these 5K events, I want to keep running and keep getting better and faster. Since my last major run, I've been training and getting back into the gym flow to come to this event and straight pull out a new record on my 5K distance. I will be shooting for a 45:00 or under.
Lately I have been having issues with my runs, however after doing some research and examining my routine, I was able to determine that its not something I was doing wrong which made me happy. It seem that the reason I was feeling sluggish with my runs was all do to the Weather change, so this means I have to keep training and running until my body is back to normal In the mean while Im just going to keep grinding and keep putting in work, sooner or later it will payoff. So please join me on Sunday when Im out there honoring all the fallen officer that lost their life in the line of duty, respect is given to those that earn it, and trust me the have, I also want to share a prayer I came a cross, and I would like to share it with you guys. Hope you like it. The Policeman's Prayer: Oh Almighty God, whose great power and eternal wisdom embraces the universe Watch over all policeman and law enforcement officers. Protect them from harm in the performance of their duty to stop crime, robberies, riot and violence. We pray, help them keep our streets and homes safe by day and night. We commend them to your loving care because their duty is dangerous. Grant them your unending strength and courage in their daily assignments. Dear God, protect these brave men; grant them your almighty protection. Unite them safely with their families after duty has ended. Register Here: https://runsignup.com/Race/NV/LasVegas/od5klasvegas Hey guys! hope everyone is having a great day. As for me, Im feeling strong, focus, determine and happy with my progress. Its been a long time in the making, I can recall not being able to even walk a block with out losing my breath.. Now I understand when they say that through the struggle and pain come progress. I have seen these at 1st hand. Now I can breath. =) Now I would like to share a 5 things on why I started running and training for a 5K. Before I began running for fun, I was your average Joe just sitting there getting fat without even realizing what I was doing. After ending a relationship that wasn't going any where, I had to take a stand against all my bad habits if I wanted to really change my life. So I began,
# 1. I asked my self how can I do this if I tried many times but I never keep my own promises, So since Its my life, I forgave myself for all my failed attempts, After this I made a new agreement with myself, expressing that this time I would be a "Man of My Word" and stick to my goal of losing weight and making it a lifestyle instead of a DIET. # 2. I wrote down several things that could remain the same if I didn't make a change in my life. The first thing that came to mind was; weight, If I stayed at 430 and didn't exercise. I would gain and I could easily be over 600+ pounds in 2-3 years, Who in the right mind would love a person of that size. NO ONE! So I told myself nope that wont be me. What If I was 600+, how would I move around, Would I be able to walk, Would I have enough money to support myself? What If i cant work? What If I need Med's for my obesity?. By exploring my biggest worries and fears I was able to realize the damage I was doing, and from their I was able to accept a "New Mindset" that would help me better my life and become a better person. #3. Everything in life is hard because you don't know how its done, but once you put in work and get your self aquatinted nothing is impossible.. All that is needed is a few key traits to help you thru this journey. Learn to be patient, just because you want it now! doesn't mean you will get it. Life is not always about Instant gratification. So remember Patiences is a virtue. Determination is another key, be a determine to not let yourself fail, make it a life or death situation. Im sure you want to live, fight to live. Another key trait has to be Consistency, this will be the biggest one to your success. Learn to stay on top of your routine and workouts, The more you do the better it will be in the long run. #4. Teach yourself about healthy foods, exercises and how to follow a proper nutrition. Once you have this knowledge, Start practicing it making it part of your every day life. If you don't prepare you will fail. Remember that. #5. Once your serious about changing your life, its now time to "Sign-Up" for an upcoming 5K event. Doing this will help you stay motivate to continue your workouts and your training to complete your first 5K. Remember that their no rush or time limit. Your racing yourself and no one else. Set your PR and then work towards breaking it. The Last thing I would like to say. Is to remember the feeling you will get once you cross that finish line. I personally remember all my emotions goings haywire because I felt so proud of what I had accomplished, and at the moment I knew nothing was impossible. I hope this can help you stay motivate. remember #run2Improve, your mind, body and soul. Hey guys! hope all is well. I have some great news. The decision has been made and I will be participating in my 1st Half Marathon ever, after my last event the idea was re-planted again and now it will become a reality. Registration: CLICK HEREPS.
