Welcome To My Life Story:
It is never to late to make a change that will benefit the rest of your life. I did not realize that when I was younger, but now I have a new outlook on my life as a whole and I'm not looking back anymore.

Why Help Fund My Races?:
Running is my passion, and through my photography, I pay my way and give back—capturing moments, inspiring others, and showing what's possible when you don’t give up. I strive to motivate people by proving that a once 460-pound man can become a weight-loss warrior, chasing the impossible and conquering it. It is never too late to make a change that will benefit the rest of your life. I didn’t realize that when I was younger, but now I have a new outlook on life—and I’m never looking back.
My name is Jose, and for as long as I can remember, I struggled with being overweight. I was called names like "fat," "chunky," and "gordo" from a young age. Over time, I got used to the comments—but they chipped away at my self-esteem. By December 2012, I hit my heaviest weight: 460 pounds. That’s when I knew something had to change—not just physically, but mentally and spiritually too.
That’s when I founded RUN2IMPROVE—to document my journey and help others who are walking a similar path.
My road has been full of pain, heartbreak, and loneliness, but also strength, growth, and breakthroughs. I’ve remained committed to reaching a healthy weight of 210 pounds and becoming the best version of myself. And now, I’m proud to say I’m closer than ever.
I’ve completed incredible milestones—including my first 100-mile ultramarathon, (4/7/25) —all while honoring my mother’s memory and proving to myself what I’m truly made of. Through every photo I take and every race I run, I carry a message: transformation is possible, no matter how far gone you feel.
I’m not just here to change my life—I’m here to inspire others to change theirs.
My name is Jose, and I am an overcomer.

Why your support matters?
I’m proud to share that I successfully completed my first 100-mile race—a lifelong goal that once felt impossible. This achievement wasn’t just about miles; it was about resilience, growth, and honoring my mother’s memory.
But the journey doesn’t stop here.
Ultra training—and staying committed to long-term goals like weight loss, improved health, and financial freedom—still comes with real challenges. From race entry fees, gear, and shoes to gas, food, and recovery needs, expenses add up quickly. Even small essentials like water bottles, gels, or hydration packs can become burdensome.
Your donation helps keep me moving forward—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. It shows me that I’m not alone, and that I have a community behind me. That support fuels every early run, every healthy choice, and every step toward financial stability.
💬 DONATIONS:

💖 Any amount over my personal goal will be donated to a local charity, helping me pay it forward and uplift others on their own journeys.
Thank you for believing in me—and for being part of something bigger than just one finish line.

My Updates: (2025)
On December 31, 2023, I lost my mother. That day changed everything. If she had just one more day, I believe she would’ve made it into the new year. Her passing hit me hard—I lost my drive, my routine, and nearly gave up on running altogether. For almost a year, I grieved deeply. But eventually, I made a decision: I wasn’t going to let her story end with pain—I was going to honor her with purpose.
And I did just that. I’m proud to say I’ve already accomplished some of the hardest physical and emotional challenges of my life:
- ✅ I got back on track with running. Restarting wasn’t easy, but it was the most important first step.
- ✅ I conquered the Jackpot Ultra 50 Miler—finishing in 26:54:00 . This race tested my endurance, mindset, and ability to keep going through sleep deprivation and fatigue.
- ✅ I completed the B.L.U. 100 Miler on my 8th attempt, after previous finishes of 50,DNF, DNF, 65, 75,DNF, and 80 miles. I crossed the finish line in 68:05:00, under the 72-hour cutoff. I did it with my mom in my heart every single mile.
